Although my son was diagnosed three years ago with Tourette’s Syndrome, my wife and I did not start attending a local support group until this past September. (See previous TS blog postings by clicking on the “Tourette’s Syndrome” under the categories heading on the sidebar.)
Last night, I went to my first local TS board meeting (simply as a parent). It was an interesting discussion and encouraging to see how much is being done behind the scenes. I admitted my own ignorance, but I presumed much more was handled by the national office.
THANK YOU TO THE LOCAL FOLKS!
Let me encourage you. If you have a child with TS, get connected.
Maybe you can’t fill any official roles or give your time, but at least go to the local meetings. It’s a blessing to know that others are going through the same things. It’s a blessing to know you are not alone.
If you don’t know where a local group is, contact the national office. You might have one just around the corner or they may know others who want to start one.
You are NOT alone.
Yours in Christ,
Marty
