“I hereby call this meeting to order!” declared Robert.
“What meeting?” asked George. “I thought you invited us over to visit.”
“I’m just glad to be invited anywhere” said Edward. “Nice to know you were thinking about me.”
“I say,” began Oliver. “If this is a meeting, shouldn’t we invite William and Peter?”
“Okay, okay,” shouted Robert above the noise. “This is an unofficial meeting. I think it’s time we discuss the new arrival to the wood. Something must be done to stop him from ruining our little church!”
“What new arrival?” asked Edward. “Although I suppose it’s only to be expected that I haven’t met anyone new yet. Always the last to know, you know.”
“Do you mean Matt?” asked George. He seemed nice enough to me. We might start building something together soon.”
“I haven’t met him yet,” said Oliver. “But William seemed to like him well enough. Said he had a lot of enthusiasm.”
“You’re darn tootin’ he had enthusiasm” said George. “We need a little excitement around here!”
“WE DO NOT NEED EXCITEMENT!” hollered Robert excitedly. “Listen to me. I know a lot about this kind of thing. I’ve been around this wood and the church for a long time. If we allow this to start there will be no stopping it. It will seem simple enough at first. Invite someone to the church. Serve a lunch. Say hi to someone new. Then we will be told to invite more people. Someone will invite someone like the Hefels or the Woozelumps. Then we will all be told to be more sensitive. Next thing you know, we’ll have wild parties and drugs in the church!”
